Periodic Table

This table was created by Arik Levy, Maaike And Mike, One & Co., Monica Forster, Khodi Feiz and Derek Chena. It is a silver-coated table of reclaimed wood, the technique used in the application allowed various knots in the grain to show through the silver. The piece is, without a doubt, a showstopper. The table is simply beautiful.

SBTG x LAZY Paramount Dunk

The SBTG x Lazy Paramount Dunk is a 1 of 1 Custom collaboration, which turned out very impressive and will be used for the final model.

Using selvage denim was always mandatory for a customade sneaker and hunting a specific "gucci" selvage with black denim was like a dream come true.

Selvage is desirable because the edge can’t fray like lower grade denims that have separate wefts which leave an open edge that must be stitched. In this case, the selvage sits perfectly on the top of the midsoles like its supposed to be aesthetically. Seeing the denim fray on the midsole is simply blasphemous.

The beauty of it all is that an exposed selvage lining on the midsole can only be achieved through a D.I.Y. process due to the nature of the denim and the sneaker panel curves. It is a very tedious process.

Maintaining an understated look by leaving all the uppers black. leaving the focus on the midsole area which forms a perfect layer cake "green, red, green, off white, black stitching & lastly, gumsoles.

Lastly, a black snakeskin swoosh. The final model will also be coming with Starks Laces and of course with the input of Lazy. Expect it to be soon released at Royalefam.

Harold Hunter Day II Product | T-Shirt & Deck

On May 17th the 2nd Annual Harold Hunter Day brought together NYC’s skateboarding community for a positive day of shredding in honor of the late, great Harold Hunter.

More than five-hundred skaters and spectators swarmed the Manhattan Bridge Skatepark for a heated six-hour session with beats provided by New York’s finest, Pete Rock. Afterward, the masses flocked to KCDC Skateshop where, in true Harold form, the party bumped late into the night.

In celebration of this noteworthy occasion and to keep Harold’s spirit strong, the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation has teamed up with The Zoo York Institute to release a limited edition HH Day II commemorative deck and t-shirt featuring Harold pics by long-time friend and acclaimed photographer, Giovanni Reda.

Both items are now available only at select New York shops including Rival, Autumn, Everything Must Go, Richmond Hood Company, Blades, DQM, and Homage. Additionally, a special bundled kit including a deck, t-shirt and signed copy of Reda’s “Harold Hunter: The Book” is available exclusively at KCDC. Proceeds from the sale of all HH Day II commemorative gear will be donated to the Harold Hunter Foundation which will use the funds to send six underprivileged NYC kids to Camp Woodward this summer.

Nintendo Wii Spraycan?!?! sign me up!

wii

From the quirky Dreamcast favorite Jet Grind Radio to Marc Ecko’s Getting Up, the ability to write graffiti seems to keep popping up in video games. Things could be getting a lot more precise with the invention of WiiSpray, a virtual aerosol paint can prototype that was developed by German student Martin Lihs for his final thesis at Bauhaus University.

According to an article in the May 08 issue of De:Bug Magazine, the can plugs into your Wii controller and simulates real life spraying with different caps and colors. With an internet connection, it may even give you the ability to collaborate on a piece with someone across the globe. No word yet on the commercial production, but these types of custom controller add-ons seem like they might be the future. Check out a few more pictures below.

Obey x Obama campaign poster buffed...and buffed again

If you live in one of Americas hot spots then your probably familiar with Shepard Fairey's (Obey) Obama campaign posters seen above.

Street artist Shepard Fairey was in New York last week and hit the streets, pasting up an Obama poster on the corner of Houston and Bowery, among other spots. Unfortunately, he sacrilegiously pasted right over the work of graffiti writer MARTY, who has been holding down that corner for years. We expected he would take it back, but were surprised he’d do it in broad daylight. An LES native caught some photos as MARTY of Smart Crew painted a fill-in over the Obama poster on Saturday afternoon, cleverly using orange paint to match the new Keith Haring mural next to it. Reached for comment by email, Shepard was apologetic for pasting over MARTY, saying, “I don’t like to go over people ever, however, I feel Obama being elected is very important to everyone’s future including MARTY’s. It was not intended to be disrespectful of him, but if he chooses to be that small minded and petty about it I can’t control that. I certainly would expect him to justly re-claim the spot after the election.”

Oddly enough, just a few hours after MARTY finished painting, a trio of Obama-loving graffiti-haters was cleaning off the poster that they mistakenly believed was legal. Who was this pro-Obama buff squad? Shepard doesn’t know, but guesses that, “people [just] feel strongly about Obama.” Obama is certainly hoping people feel strongly in support during the West Virginia primary today.

Below are some photos of MARTY in action, and the the pro-Obama buff squad at work.

Here's a pic of the "Obama loving graffiti-haters" after buffing the freshly painted piece from Marty.

Paid Dues review/rant

On Saturday the 7th I attended the "Paid Dues" tour. I was really excited to finally see Rakim live in concert, I get to the venue only to find out he couldn't make it. Everyone I was rolling with was pissed but I knew there were some other acts I wanted to see. They refunded everyone $5 and I caught the show on the second act, it was "Soliloquists of Sound". It was a quartet 2 female singers/floacists, the MC and the DJ/Producer. The DJ was INSANE dude had so much energy and was very sick on the MPC, dude even played a solo with his nose!! Murs came out to host the whole event. The next act up was Kidz in the Hall they did a good job as well and played alot of tracks from "The In Crowd".Supernatural and Scrath went up next, they did some organic hip-hop, Scratch looped his own beatbox and Supernat just blacked out on everything. Next up was Buckshot, this is my 2nd time seeing him live in Miami. His set was DOPE he brought out 1/2 of Smiff -n- Wessun and went through some old and new stuff. I have heard of Blackalicious before but OMG these dudes sucked MAJOR ass, it seemed like their set would never end. It was one lame song after another a few people in the audience started to boo them (me included). Last but not least was Little Brother!!! I always been a big fan since "The Listening" so I was ready for something epic. They hit the stage and immediately had the crowd amped they did tracks froma variety of albums and mixtapes and Phonte could be a comedian dude is a fool lol! I really enjoyed the concert but on a side note....When you have some sort of celebrity and you are out of state on a show and a fan comes to give you dap becuase they enjoy your music and the fact that you mention that fans neighborhood/High School in alot of your rhymes don't brush them off like they are a groupie and/or on your dick. Atleast acknowledge them because without fans who would come to your show? If you all are wondering who I am talking about it is no other than Naledge from Kidz in the Hall. Next time try being humble because if I didn't like your music, I would be liable to spark you. (You know how we do in the Chi!!)

BBC/Ice Cream denim coming with new cut!!

Nike McFly 2015 VS. Reebok Alien Stomper

honeyee.com launched a very interesting project last week. These 2 “virtual” sneakers: so-called Alien Stomper by Reebok, which was wore by the crew of Nostromo in the movie Alien. The other would be McFly 2015 by Nike, the one fashioned by Michael J. Fox’s character as he coasted through air on his Barbie hover board in Back to the Future 2.
It is only a few hours into the start of the survey and already McFly 2015 is in the lead by 79%. And if the previous survey was any indication, McFly 2015 might come out on top by day’s end.

Fox News is the DEVIL!

In an appalling gaffe Sunday, journalist Liz Trotta made a distasteful joke and lumped presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama in with United States enemy Osama Bin Laden, saying she wished them both dead.

Trotta was discussing Obama opponent Hillary Clinton's citing of the RFK assassination during the 1968 Democratic primary contest as a reason for her staying in the race.

"And now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, um uh, Obama - well, both if we could." she said laughing. The hosted merely joined in the joke with her, saying "talk about how you really feel," and quickly moved on.

Trotta later apologized with a 20-second afterthought during another Fox News program. A petition to have Liz Trotta fired is circulating via the Care2 Web site.

One Step Closer!

The battle is over, now the war begins!!! YES WE CAN!!!!!

Lightpieces

Lightpieces by SAAZS feature the first active light-emitting glass, co-developed with Saint-Gobian Innovations, that uses Planilum technology. No light bulb, or other light source, is needed, as the light comes from the material. The intensity is evenly distributed over the whole surface, so the light is always soothing, never shocking. The material can be touched, as the temperature is near that of the human body. This new technology allows light to be part of structure. Included in the SAAZS collection are pieces by Arik Levy, Tomas Erel, Adrien Gardere and Christian Blecher.

Tokujin Yoshioka

"Chair that disappears in the rain"

Tokujin Yoshioka has been experimenting with glass in his work since 2002. over the years he has developed new glass products and refined his techniques. He produced his first glass project in 2003 in the form of ‘Chair that disappears in the rain’. in 2006 he developed a bar design using the same glass material. He presented a glass chair at his ‘tornado’ exhibit in Miami and also designed a stool combining glass and wood in 2007. The new stool from 2007 has just been put into production, and is the latest piece in the ongoing series. This special glass material allows yoshioka to make forms that blend into their surroundings while producing unique optical aesthetics. In tokyo this fall, Tokujin will be the artistic director of an exhibition where he will unveil a new chair design. here’s hoping it’s the next evolution in his glass experiments.
